I went in for an annual service check up and I was surprised to know I didn't need one just yet. Enrique was my service advisor guided me better of when I need to come back. We all know dealers always want to make thier money but he was very honest and instead he helped me just top off my oil. I'm so glad I purchased my van here and will continue giving them my business with their service department.

Summary:
Fellow Sprinter owners. Please be aware of the Walter's Mercedes Benz of Riverside service department. This service team, specifically Enrique Velez, prey on customers I assume because they typically deal with commercial companies who do not question their unethical practices. My normal service advisor, Brennon Ruiz, is amazing, however he was not at work when I checked in and was handed Mr. Velez. The service industry is extremely shady as it is, however, they are practicing very unethical customer service. I was given a price for a brake pad service over the phone, to which i immediately made the appointment for. When I came in less than one week later for the appointment I scheduled for the price I was given, the price had jumped nearly $400. I was told prices increased two days ago and that they would not be honoring the price given less than a week prior by my normal advisor, Mr. Ruiz. I challenged Mr. Velez on this and he dug his heels in until I mentioned it was hard to leave a positive review after this. Mind you I have had pretty great service for many many years at this service department, so I was shocked at what was happening. Mr. Velez told me he could knock a few bucks off, but that was the best he could do acting as if he was doing me a favor. I told him I did not need a favor nor the money. I just needed him to do the right thing and honor the price I was given less than a week ago. Because I needed the brakes done, and the wheels were already off, I reluctantly told him to go ahead and do the job. With doing a brake job, obviously you have to remove the wheels from the vehicle. I asked Mr. Velez if he would at least rotate tires since the wheels were already going to be off. He said it would be an additional $70. I was further shocked and could not believe what I was hearing. I was in this service department on December 22 getting the minor "A" service done and was given a report that the brakes were at 9 mm in the front and 7 mm in the back. Suddenly when I went to get the brakes looked at because they were squeaking they were at 3 mm in the front and 5 mm in the back. I called Mr. Velez on this and told him it was impossible to take off 6mm in a matter of six weeks to which he replied it must've been my hard driving and that I had put over 3,000 miles on my Sprinter since then (only 2,400, I looked). The brake pads come from the factory at 10 mm so he was basically telling me I removed 1 mm in 3 1/2 years and 6 mm in two months. Impossible. Because of their reporting mistake on my December 22 service, I was advised I now needed front rotors, which was an additional $400 (ish) on top of the additional $400 for the sudden two day ago price hike. Again, this was their mistake. I am all about human error, it happens, but the number one life lesson is you have to own your mistakes not shift blame to others (in this case the customer). This made him sound so ignorant. As they began to work on my vehicle, obviously, I was still unhappy but composed. Mr. Velez chased me down outside and started to apologize, saying he could knock money off after speaking to his manager. I told him I did not need the money. I just wanted them to practice doing the right thing and I was surprised that the manager was allowing any of this to occur. He said he would throw in the tire rotation for free and take 12% off. Again it's not about the money it's about them trying to take advantage of me. When I called him out on it and challenged his ridiculous theory, which has obviously never happened to him, he was in retreat mode. They did knock off the money and throw in the tire rotation but not because it was the right thing to do but because they knew this review was coming. When I reviewed the itemized list of services when I got home, it's unbelievable what they charged me for. They charged me $42 for Brake paste and add additional $16 dollars for brake cleaner and $50 for brakes squeak. Whatever that is. I almost never leave negative reviews and am always first to praise a good job, but I was shocked at the treatment I was given. There are not a lot of choices to properly get my sprinter serviced, so my hands are kind of tied. I just need to know I can trust what the service advisor are saying and not try to steal money from me or any other customer. Learn from me and be careful with this company. Obviously I will not be returning here unless things change and are made right. Lastly, just a side note, it's not very professional to vape and blow a huge cloud of smoke in the air while doing the initial check in walk around of your customers vehicle. It portrays a pretty unprofessional and negative atmosphere I am sure the GM'a would be thrilled to see. Lesson learned. I'll ask for my normal advisor Brennan Ruiz next time. I am sadly disappointed for Walter's.
