Walters exemplifies all the negative stereotypes of a car dealership the type of place you would cringe and hesitate to send your mother or daughter. First, on a positive note, the dealership is nice and comfortable, and most of the staff is professional and proficient. However, the service department sales culture is sneaky and softly aggressive. A cabin filter recommendation ($325) was made at a vehicle mileage of 14K miles. This was snuck into the service bill. I made an appointment for service A and shared that my sister would drop off the vehicle. Upon drop off the vehicle, my sister signed the service document as required, which included way more than what I discussed with the agent upon scheduling. It was deceptive. Upon picking up the vehicle, I was told I was financially responsible for the additional services because they were already completed. I voiced my dissatisfaction but paid and got over it. My husband dropped off the vehicle on the next service trip (18K miles). Given our experience the previous year, he spoke sternly with the sales rep (Joseph Loera) to only perform the required service for the current interval as this is a lease vehicle. Later, we discovered that the same service recommendation add-ons made the previous year were tacked onto the bill. The same recommendations on arrival at the dealership! This is before they look at the vehicle and make recommendations based on an examination; we understand that process (i.e., we examined your car and see that you may need XYZ). But these recommendations are made without the sales agent even coming close to the vehicle. Why are you recommending this and passing it off as a required service? Is there a smell sensor that communicates with the dealership when the cabin filter needs repair? Does a cabin filter last less than 5k miles? This must be the worst product ever! It is essentially an upsell to double my service bill with a quick add-on. The same was true for a key fob battery ($30 for just one), replaced just one year ago, less than 5K miles earlier. How many times did I start the car? Again, it must be the worst product ever if you recommend a replacement that soon. These are standard upsells. The management team heard our uproar, and the matter was reconciled in our favor this second time. But the sales rep doubled down on his claim that he was not trying to be intentionally deceptive, which is concerning. I have a long history of dealings with Walters, several cars, that give me an uneasy feeling all the time. I had tires replaced and, upon driving away, discovered the lug nuts were not tight, although they passed it off as an issue with the tire filler. I dropped a vehicle off once for an oil change and was told that the vehicle didnt start the following day and needed a major repair. I arrived for an oil change and was told I had metal exposed on several tires and needed a whole new set of four tires. My own mother drives 50 miles to Irvine, instead of 20 to Riverside, because of her own frustrations over the years with Walters. Now I understand. We want our mechanic to raise the red flag for safety and necessary repairs and are willing to pay for the service. However, Walters Mercedes Benz of Riverside has proven time and time again that it is difficult to trust their recommendations. I hope anyone reading this takes the time to read every line item on the documents before you sign when you drop your car and pick it up. Do not trust that what you asked for is all that you will be charged for.

The team at Walters MBZ is very professional. They are polite and the facilities are exceptionally clean. We were provided a loaner vehicle while our car was in for service. The loaner car was new and made this a better experience. As for the repair, this was the second time we brought the vehicle in for the same issues. At this point the issue seems to have been corrected.
