| Summary: I'm a Porsche collector of rare/low mileage/well documented/original air cooled 911 models, including paint to sample turbos. Plus, PTS 997.1 and newer turbos always in the mix as well.
Years back I bought a Cobalt Blue 911 with Walter's (Riverside) Porsche in the mix. Nice experience. However, that was many years ago...guess things have changed there.
Through Ebay the other day, I see Riverside Porsche has a semi collectable Boxster Spyder on their lot. Miles are too high to be a true collectible but still interesting. Another huge negative against this Spyder is that it is tiptronic. I've had a few 993 tiptronics over the years. Next to no one wants the tiptronic set up when you go to sell. PDK is an entirely different story. However, as after many years of only 911 models or a Macan S or GTS for me, I'm starting to warm up to the thought of having a Boxster in the mix of my collector 911 models, maybe the Spyder could be a good starter one.
Anyway, I make an offer on this Spyder through Ebay as I've recently sold off a few toys and have open garage spaces.
Well, I'm then called directly by Riverside Porsche. I'd rather they had just contacted me through ebay messages so I knew who they were versus finding my phone number, I'm guessing on Ebay, and calling me from an unknown number that I let go to voicemail.
Per the vm, I call back, speak to a Brandon. Nice chat, I give him my first, last name, all my info so he knows I'm a legit Porsche guy, not here to waste my time nor his and that I have three days off and am looking to fill a few Porsche garage spots that have opened up with me recently selling some I had. He says he will send me more info on the Spyder. Great! Nothing comes.
I leave a follow up message on his line again asking for the report on what Riverside Porsche did to the Boxster to prep it for resale. I leave my number, slowly say my direct email address twice.
Plus, I ask him what time he is in the next day as I was planning on going in person on my way back to L.A. from P.S. to meet him, see the Spyder and two different Macan S models I see in their inventory as well. I need to replace a Jeep SUV I sold about three weeks ago.
I had not mentioned the possible Macan S purchase to him. None the less, even if I was calling about the cheapest non Porsche on the lot that was about to be sent to a wholesaler, there should have been the info sent back to me on this tiptronic Boxster.
I was told many years ago and it's true, "You meet many of the same people on the way up as you do on the way down. So, always be a pro and follow through with what you say you are going to do."
Hey, people get busy, as do I. I get it. But, here were are now a few days later, and not a word. I'll honk as I pass by Riverside Porsche.
I've done business with various Porsche dealerships in multiple states over many and recent years. Sometimes it's just a parts order from one of them, other times it's an entire cooling system and water lines being pinned on a 911TT at another one of them.
As a matter of fact, there's likely a review from a couple years ago here on my Yelp of another Porsche dealership (about an hour from Riverside Porsche) that I can never say enough good things about.
That Porsche dealership and a Jeep dealership I buy my new Jeeps/Ram trucks through are what used to be the norm. I'm sure I've yelped about my Jeep dealership as well. If you're in the market for a Jeep/Ram/Dodge, they are worth the trip from anywhere to buy from them.
Anyway, I guess I will take Riverside Porsche out of my searches now. No need to ask about anything there, they don't get you the info anyway...even when you look in your junk email file to see if it ended up there by chance...nope! |

| Summary: John Beech at Porsche Riverside was a pleasure to work with. This was my 1st Porsche purchase and John walked me through the entire CPO buying process. I never felt pressured, John answered all my questions and overall being well taken care of.
I flew down from Nor Cal and drove home the same day and would do it all over again for my next purchase with the Riverside Porsche team.
